Unlinking Accounts

 

Note: There are special rules when unlinking the primary account. See RMEx system HELP on the unlinking field of the smart code.

There are 3 features that can be used to unlink accounts:

  • The "account linking" option (daily operations menu - account linking)
  • The linked account summary screen (F5 from the account detail screen)

Note: If you need to unlink accounts and relink some of them back, then you must create a new primary account then link any other accounts to it. To do this you will need to link the required account to itself

E.g. If there are four accounts with case numbers 35 (primary), 36, 37 and 38 linked together:

Scenario – you wish to unlink case number 38 only. You will need to link case number 38 to itself

Scenario - you wish to unlink case number 38 and 37 to create a new linked group and you want case number 38 to be the primary account. You will need to link case number 38 to itself then link case number 37 to 38

The field “Unlink account (Y, R)” on the smart code – the “Y” allows you to unlink an account and the “R” allows you to unlink an account and have the system reattempt the linking during the nightly processing


"SC-0110 LINKING can not change-multiple accounts exist"

  • Appears when you are trying to link 2 link groups of accounts together and you do not put a "Y" in the field link all (Y) on the account linking screen.
  • NOTE: In some cases, like if you linked an account in error and DO NOT want to link all the accounts together,  you may find that you will want to just unlink the account in question and link it to itself, making it it's own primary, and THEN linking it to the other group.
