Treat retry management as total for all numbers:

Calls Phone#1 – Phone# 2 – Phone #3 – Phone #1 – etc

(Note: The ‘Retry Options’ tab allows you to set maximums for ‘overall’ calls and ‘not present’ calls. The type of failure outlined in the table below will take precedence UNLESS you are going to exceed these maximums, then the maximums will take precedence.)

If busy and no answer outcomes are set to 2 AND Maximum is set to 5.  The following sequence of events could occur.  Phone #1 (busy) – Phone #2 (no answer) – Phone #1 (busy & stop) Phone #2 (no answer and stop) and not make a 5th attempt.

Same scenario but Maximum is set to 3 and the Busy and No answer outcomes are set to 2. We would call Phone #1 (busy) – Phone #2 (no answer) – Phone #1 (busy and stop). We stopped early because the Maximum was set to 3.

Apply retry management totals to each number:

Calls Phone #1 –  Phone #1 – Calls Phone #2 -  Phone #2 – Phone #3 – etc..

Same scenario but Maximum is set to 3 and the Busy and No answer outcomes are set to 2. We would call Phone #1 (busy) – Phone #1 (busy and stop)  – Phone #2 (no answer and stop)  We stopped after dialing Phone #2 only once because we reached the maximum.

Schema for multiple numbers

Retry using only 1 number:

This applies to Phone #1 only

Exhaust each number retries before attempting next number:

We will look at the maximum retry totals at the outcome level before trying the next number. However, we will also look at the overall maximum and not exceed that value.

Try each number on a round robin basis:

Calls each number once then goes to the next number until the maximums have been reached.

Make x calls for each number:

This takes precedence over the Table Values but NOT the maximum values. If maximum is set to 5 and this is set to 2, only 2 calls will be made per number. If there are 3 numbers, 2 calls will be made to Phone #1, 2 calls to Phone #2 and 1 call to Phone #3 because the maximum will have been reached.

Immediate retry of not present using next number:

If you make a call and get a No Answer the next number is immediately brought into cache (scheduled) to be called before another debtor.  Basically you are making a debtor with multiple numbers a higher priority than a debtor that has not been called even once yet.

One shot at each number:

Means that you will ONLY make one call to a number regardless of the call outcome. However the One Shot will not allow you to exceed the Overall Maximums.
